Today is Canada Day. 159 years ago, Canada broke free from British imperial rule and gradually moved toward independence.
However, after independence, Canada has not achieved a true institutional rebirth. It remains a member of the Commonwealth, with the British King as its nominal head of state and a Governor General in place. This disguised form of monarchy is incompatible with democracy and human rights — it runs completely counter to them — and in reality restricts the people’s democratic rights and basic freedoms.
As a result, although Canada claims to be democratic, it is far from a genuine democracy. The people have neither referendum rights, nor the right to decide on major issues, nor the power to recall administrative officials or judges. They only have a limited right to vote. Because of the fixed election schedule and the first-past-the-post (relative majority) system, every government knows it does not need to govern well. It only needs to exhaust every means to pursue private gain through power, making the vast majority of voters deeply disgusted and hopeless, leading them to refuse to vote. This is exactly what the ruling class wants. When elections come, voters can only choose the so-called opposition party (in reality their accomplices) that gets slightly more votes than the current worst government. In the next four years, governance will inevitably become even worse.
This is just like students taking exams where there is no passing grade required — no need for real knowledge or correct answers. You only need to score one point higher than the worst student to be declared “qualified” and become a teacher. The students you teach will then know even less, score even lower, and the cycle continues with each generation worse than the last. If they somehow produce high scores, those scores would actually be negative. There is no worst, only worse — a vicious cycle.
Fixed elections mainly serve to deceive the people: no matter how bad or even the worst the government is, there is no need to revolt — just wait for the next election and vote it out. The relative majority system reveals the truth of power transition: as long as you get one more vote than the incumbent, you can take office. However, since every ruling party only receives votes from a minority — sometimes a tiny minority — of the entire population, they only represent the interests of a small minority. Moreover, because elections cost huge amounts of manpower and resources, they must recoup them many times over. Instinctively, they also want to gain more than their predecessors to satisfy their competitive urges. Therefore, they will inevitably govern worse, do even less, and it is impossible for them to do more good than harm. Doing good for the majority would harm the interests of the tiny minority they truly represent.
Under a system dominated by power hierarchy and money, the interests and benefits of the tiny minority are almost always obtained through the deprivation and exploitation of the vast majority. Only by keeping the majority permanently worse off than the ruling class can the elites stay high above, live in luxury, and enjoy a life of superiority.
For the ruling class, the overall condition of the country and society can be very bad or keep getting worse — they don’t care, as long as they themselves live far better than the common people and enjoy a de facto slave-owner lifestyle. Absolute wealth gap is the standard they pursue deep in their hearts. As long as they can tout per capita income and the country occupies relatively superior geographical resources on Earth, they claim absolute superiority! This is also where the people’s despair lies.
They don’t care if ordinary people are squeezed their entire lives, living in constant struggle, holding onto hope but always facing disappointment. They can only find relative comfort or luck compared to those who have been stripped of everything, driven out to become homeless, and left to starve or freeze to death on the streets — the “advanced” middle class turned into vagrants. This is the core (dark-hearted) reason why every government under this evil system must continuously produce waves of proletarians and homeless people, even causing their deaths. If too many homeless people survive and accumulate, it might lead to upheaval and popular revolt. Therefore, the government needs to maintain a balance in the number of homeless — generally keeping about 10% of the population homeless. This makes the largest group of so-called middle-class people (including various community leaders attached to officials) feel relatively fortunate and minimally satisfied. It also forces the middle class and community leaders to work hard, remain obedient, willingly and skillfully act as accomplices and messengers for politicians. They dare not, and have no time to, think about how to resist or achieve true liberation, let alone deeply analyze the evil logic of the Western system — something that has not happened in hundreds of years.
In addition to the overt evil in the law, Canada, the United States, and other Anglo-American legal system countries also use so-called “independent” judiciary — allowing judges to act as both referees and legislators, essentially lawless — to help the executive commit violence, maliciously legislate, or divert public resentment from the government and parliament. Since courts only have passive adjudication power and do not control the military, police, financial, or human resources, they can only serve the government. They use passive dictatorship to satisfy or expand the active dictatorship and tyranny of the executive and legislature, shifting crises. The most insidious is the judicial precedent that openly establishes the thoroughly reactionary “sovereign immunity” —
In a true democracy, even the constitutions formulated after the French Revolution long ago established “sovereignty resides in the people.” Other countries’ constitutions also explicitly state that “all power belongs to the people.” This means only the collective actions of the entire people, or at least the majority, enjoy immunity from existing laws. Because the people have the right to amend unreasonable laws or enact new ones, if a law is acknowledged as unreasonable, it cannot be used to punish the people. This is the principle behind the Chinese idiom “law does not punish the crowd.” Even in ancient China under imperial rule, when people collectively broke the law, the blame fell on the law itself, not on punishing the masses. As for officials — even a tiny minority — who committed crimes, ancient China legislated that “even the emperor’s son who breaks the law shall be punished the same as commoners!” Bao Zheng (Judge Bao) of the Song Dynasty repeatedly executed high officials, even the emperor’s son-in-law, according to the law.
Combined with the only system that truly respected fairness and science — the imperial examination system (allowing commoners to become high officials based on real talent and knowledge) — China became an ancient civilized nation and the recognized “Central Kingdom” of the world. This was entirely reasonable.
However, high officials and judges in Canada and the United States declare that as long as government officials act in the name of law enforcement — or even if clearly illegal — if they claim it is for national interest, they can violate any citizen’s rights, openly rob citizens’ property, or even kill people, and bear neither criminal responsibility nor civil compensation. For example, in the U.S., so-called ICE agents (the name itself allows open privilege over the people) shot and killed a citizen who was legally photographing and supervising enforcement on the street. The killer remains at large, and the government pays the victim’s family nothing. The U.S. Vice President has even claimed “sovereign immunity.” Officials in Fort Erie, Canada, have acted even more outrageously: simply to satisfy a colleague’s wife’s jealousy and personal desire, they openly helped her rob a neighbor’s large RV, yacht, and all valuables inside. The Ontario Superior Court actually supported this robbery crime under sovereign immunity!
Moreover, Canada’s already incomplete constitution does not even grant citizens property rights. This means Canadian people are essentially reduced to proletarian status for life, with the fate of slaves. The so-called middle class who manage to buy houses and cars are at best sacrificial victims parasitized and sucked dry by bloodsuckers — house slaves paying high property taxes to the government!
The key is that government officials only need to collect high property taxes from everyone to live comfortably and do nothing. Unlike some countries where the government collects no property tax and must lead the people to develop the economy and generate revenue, in Canada and the West it is very difficult for ordinary people to make money. They can easily fall behind on property taxes, have their houses auctioned by the government, and join the next batch of homeless waiting to die.
It is clear that the real status of people in Canada and the West is even worse than serfs in ancient China. As long as there were no natural disasters or wars, Chinese serfs were generally not driven out of their homes by the government or landlords to freeze or starve to death in the wilderness. Otherwise, without foreign immigration, China’s population in ancient times would have dwindled long ago. How could it have kept growing and remained the largest in the world for so long? (Until India, which later adopted similar systems plus fair marriage practices, caught up.)
Canada and the West certainly cannot compare with modern China!
If you don’t believe it, please go to China for a month-long trip. Day and night, go deep into urban and rural areas, use accurate translation, and fully understand the real lives of the Chinese people — including the so-called “slavery” of Xinjiang ethnic minorities deliberately misrepresented by Western politicians and scholars. You will be sincerely convinced. Except for a tiny number of elites who will still scream hysterically.
This is also the confidence behind the Chinese government’s unilateral visa-free policy allowing Western citizens to travel to China for almost unlimited stays of up to one month. In contrast, it creates an internal urgency in Canada and Western countries (including Taiwan) to squeeze ordinary people so hard that they lack the economic means to travel abroad (or off the island). It is also why Western politicians rack their brains to fabricate lies about China being dangerous — to scare those who have some economic ability but lack logical judgment from seeing the real China.
Of course, China is far from perfect. In contemporary fierce competition with the West, it has had to fight poison with poison. Especially under the misleading influence of the scientific community (particularly life sciences) still monopolized by hierarchical dictatorship, elites inevitably tend toward short-term gains. Each side has its own advantages and constraints.
Canada and the West are not incurable too. We only need everyone to vote overwhelmingly for our party to take power, lead the country with justice and science, and implement the brand-new 【Mother Law for Happiness and Longevity in the Human Family】 — offered as the most solemn gift for Canada Day. It has thoroughly eradicated and perfectly resolved all contemporary ills and fatal cancers.
